Battery take-back event set in Grove City

The National Waste & Recycling Foundation (NWRF), in partnership with National Waste & Recycling Association members, will host a nationwide Battery Take-Back Day on Saturday.

Events across the country are part of the Skip the Bin! Turn Your Batteries In! campaign featuring the U.S. Forest Service’s Woodsy Owl, an effort to educate the public about the growing dangers of battery fires and the importance of safe battery disposal.

Locally, an event is planned in Grove City at Tri-County Industries, 159 TCI Park Drive.

Across the U.S., local community members are invited to bring their used household batteries to their local battery take-back event for free and safe disposal. Attendees can learn about safe battery storage and responsible battery disposal tips and become better equipped to protect their homes and communities from preventable fires.

Each year, thousands of fires are sparked by discarded batteries in homes, garbage trucks and recycling centers. The Skip the Bin! Turn Your Batteries In! take-back events empower residents to take simple steps that make a big impact, keeping firefighters, sanitation workers and neighborhoods safe.
